As the late, great Art Blakey once said: “Music washes away the dust of every day life.” Join lovers of good things at Can Domingo and let the music, food and wine wash it all away.
Jazz is eternal. Even if you think you are not a jazz fan, scratch the surface and you’ll find it somewhere buried deep in your soul. Jazz is life. And that’s no joke. For the team at Can Domingo, jazz is just one of the elements that brings them, their guests and indeed all the island together. As Can Domingo tradition now dictates, this summer sees the continuation of Saturday night jazz with the resident band as well as the addition of Tuesday evenings with the sublime Muriel Grossmann Quartet from 9.30pm onwards.
The Can Domingo Resident Band has taken up their positions in the garden for the last several years. Vocalist Chiara Spadacini occupies the atmosphere with her sweet and tender tones. Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and a selection of beloved Italian classics breeze across the fragrant garden passing through the whole spectrum of emotion that encompasses the musical art form that is jazz.
Muriel Grossmann is a musical force to be reckoned with. Her undiluted passion for her genre is contagious. Bandleader and saxophonist, she commands a respect for the music that is unsurpassed. Think John Coltrane, Count Basie, Grover Washington and Stan Getz all wrapped up in this modern-day woman. She’s channelling all the greats and bringing her own special flavour to the table.
Speaking of tables, grab one and a menu of delicious, home made, top end Italian food including the island’s only fine dining vegan tasting menu. Choose a glass (or a bottle) from the extensive wine list and allow all your senses to be engaged in one magical night. As the stars appear above and the countryside vistas leading to the sea are bathed in that deep purple Ibiza light sit back and sup in the food, wine and music sent from the gods.
